Homeless woman charged with shoving girl, 2, on Bronx street

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A homeless woman accused of shoving a toddler to the ground as she walked with her mother on a Bronx sidewalk over the summer was apprehended Thursday.

Shoshannah Johnson, 32, has been charged with assault, acting in a manner injurious to a child and reckless endangerment in connection with the Aug. 24 incident.

According to police, Johnson was the woman seen on camera shoving the 2-year-old girl outside a deli on the corner of East 198th Street and Valentine Avenue.

Footage released by police had shown the woman approach the mother and daughter when the mom's back was turned, and violently shove the girl.

The mother told WABC-TV that attack happened very suddenly and aggressively.

"She was mumbling something, and she just came around the corner and just pushed her like she was a grown woman, like, two hands, everything," she said.

Authorities said the girl fell the ground and hit her head on the pavement. She was later treated at Montefiore Medical Center.

Video of the incident showed Johnson appear to skip away from the scene.

The mother told WABC that, thankfully, her daughter was not seriously injured.

"I was very worried," she said. "I took her to the hospital – no marks, no bruises, no nothing."
