NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The dismembered body of a man was found stuffed inside a suitcase floating in the East River on Wednesday evening, police said.

The disturbing find was made around 5:30 p.m. near Governor’s Island.

The NYPD said its Harbor Unit retrieved the suitcase and found the man's torso inside—without a head or limbs.

Officers transported his remains to Pier 16 in the Financial District.

The medical examiner took custody of the remains and will determine his cause of death.

Police are working to identify him and figure out who dumped him in the river.

The Harbor Unit is also searching to see if any of his missing body parts are in the river.
