Identity theft suspect sought after $1,200 purchase at NYC Best Buy

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man’s identity was used to open a credit account at a Brooklyn Best Buy last month and $1,200 worth of merchandise was purchased with it, prompting police to release a photo of the suspect on Friday to help in their grand larceny investigation.

At about 8:26 p.m. on Feb. 21 an unknown man went into the Best Buy in Atlantic Center, located at 625 Atlantic Ave., and used a 45-year-old man’s identity to open a credit account.

Officials said that the suspect bought $1,200 worth of goods on the victim’s account before fleeing.

The suspect is described by police as a bald man.
