NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – If you are vaccinated and have no pre-existing conditions, the CDC says you do not need to wear a mask in most situations. After over a year of a pandemic and a push to make sure everyone was wearing face coverings and socially distancing, now some people can take off their masks.
This week, we'll look at the science and the psychology of mask-wearing. What allows vaccinated Americans to take off their masks? And how has the messaging from government officials changed?
For the science, we'll speak with two medical experts, Dr. Syra Madad, the senior director of systemwide special pathogens for NYC Health + Hospitals. We'll also talk to Dr. Adam Jarrett, the Chief Medical Officer of Holy Name Medical Center in Jersey City. Finally, we'll speak with Dr. Jeffery Gardere, also known as America's psychologist, about the mental impact of removing your mask.
