The 66-year-old victim was inside the Duane Reade at 17 John St. in the Financial District around 9:25 p.m. last Tuesday, when he bumped into the suspect who was exiting the location, police said Monday.

The suspect punched the victim in the head, making an antisemitic statement before fleeing to parts unknown, according to cops.

The victim suffered a minor head injury but refused medical attention.

There have been no arrests made.

The suspect was last seen wearing a purple and black North Face jacket, a yellow polo shirt and dark pants.

The assault comes amid a citywide spike in anti-Jewish hate crimes seen over the past two months during the Israel-Hamas war. The number of reported antisemitic crimes was up 32% in November, compared to November 2022, the latest NYPD crime stats show.

Anyone with information in regard to these incidents is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
