NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 28-year-old jogger died three days after she was stabbed in a suspected random attack along the waterfront in Bath Beach, Brooklyn, her family said Tuesday.
Katie Suarez, of Brooklyn, had been on life support since the stabbing along the Shore Parkway Greenway, near Bay 17th Street, around 8 p.m. Friday. She died Monday night, her family told reporters.
Police said Suarez was stabbed twice in the neck while jogging along a path that runs parallel to the Belt Parkway. She was discovered by her father after she failed to meet him as they'd planned.
Investigators believe it was a random and unprovoked attack, and that it was not a robbery, as she still had her cellphone and jewelry on her. No arrests have been made, and no suspect images have been released, as there are no cameras in the immediate area, police said.
On Monday, the NYPD increased the reward to $10,000 as they continued to search for her killer. They also released an image of her, asking anyone who may have seen her Friday evening to contact them.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
