NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – It's a match made in Manhattan! Lower East Side institutions Katz’s Deli and Veselka have combined two of their signature dishes—for just a few weeks.
The culinary creation, dubbed the “pastrogi,” features Katz’s legendary pastrami inside of Veselka’s signature dumpling.
“The flavorful fusion was developed after weeks of testing and trials by both storied restaurants,” according to a joint press release from the Jewish deli on East Houston Street and the Ukrainian eatery on Second Avenue.
The pastrogi is being released to celebrate Veselka’s upcoming Williamsburg location at 646 Lorimer St.

Indeed, the pure–NYC pierogi will be available daily for one month only at the new outpost, which is slated to open on June 5. A limited number will also be available on Veselka’s website for shipping nationwide.
Also being released as part of the culinary collab is the “New York Classics Package,” which features a dozen Veselka classic potato pierogis and Katz’s hand-carved pastrami with an array of fixings, including deli rye, full sour pickles, deli mustard, Reuben dressing, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. The $160 package is available for the next three weeks via Katz’s nationwide shipping program and includes free shipping.
