NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man with a knife has been breaking into apartments in Queens and robbing women, police said Thursday as they released surveillance video of a suspect.
The suspect has been linked to at least two robberies in Woodside and Sunnyside over the past week.
In the most recent robbery on Monday morning, he entered an apartment at 42nd Street and Skillman Avenue around 10:05 a.m. and encountered a 76-year-old woman, police said. She apparently startled him, as he fled out a window. It's unclear if anything was stolen.
He's also a suspect in a break-in just days before on the morning of July 18. According to police, he went into an apartment at 56th Street and Queens Boulevard around 10:50 a.m. He pulled a knife on a 21-year-old woman inside and demanded her money and cellphone, cops said. He then fled with her belongings.
Neither victim was injured in the robberies, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
