NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The largest Democratic political club on Manhattan's Upper East Side voted Thursday night to endorse Kathryn Garcia for New York City mayor as a replacement to Scott Stringer amid his sex abuse claims.
The vote by the Four Freedoms Democratic Club comes after Jean Kim, a former intern accused city comptroller and mayoral candidate Scott Stringer of sexual abuse and harassment last month.
Kim alleges that he repeatedly groped her and said, "Why won't you f–k me?" when she worked as an "unpaid intern" for his 2001 campaign.
At the time, Stringer was an assemblyman representing the Upper West Side.
Stringer has blasted the accusations and said "this isn't me. These allegations are false," adding that he had a "consensual" relationship with Kim.
