NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A storewide sale marked the end of the last Bed Bath & Beyond location on Staten Island, SI Advance reported.

The New Springville location of the home goods chain slashed prices by up to 30% on all items as the store enters the first phase of its closure. Coupons will also not be accepted in light of the markdowns.

“As part of our previously announced closing of approximately 150 underperforming stores in support of our current optimization strategy, Bed Bath & Beyond has decided to close the Staten Island, N.Y., location in the coming months,” a spokesperson for the company told SI Advance. “While the decision to close a store is always a difficult one, Bed Bath & Beyond looks forward to serving area customers at nearby stores in Elizabeth, N.J., Iselin, N.J., or Brooklyn, N.Y., as well as online at bedbathandbeyond.com.”

Back in August, Bed Bath & Beyond announced a plan to close multiple stores and layoff employees in order to boost sales and profits.

Though the Staten Island store was not initially part of the 150 planned closures, it had since been designated an underperforming location.

Bed Bath and Beyond has struggled significantly in the past few years with sales, especially since the pandemic began.

The company did not yet say when the location will close.
