NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A livery cab driver was shot in the face after a fender bender in Brooklyn on Friday morning, but the shooter wasn't involved in the crash, according to police and sources.
The 50-year-old driver of a black SUV was involved in a minor collision with a transport van on North Portland Avenue, near Myrtle Avenue, in Fort Greene shortly after 4 a.m., sources said.
The cabbie and the second driver were arguing when the shooter—who wasn't a party in the accident—came out of nowhere and shot him in the cheek, authorities said.
The cabbie was hospitalized at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
Police were still searching for the shooter on Friday.
Sources told 1010 WINS that the cabbie’s passenger called someone on their phone after the crash, but it wasn’t immediately clear who that person was or if they’re connected to the incident.
