NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Zohran Mamdani reacted Tuesday to being called "Mayor Mambino" as he's blamed for the Mets' 11-game losing streak.

Some people say Mamdani "put a curse on the Mets" when he hugged Mr. Met at Citi Field on April 9.

"Is there anything you can do to relieve the curse?" a reporter asked.

"I'll first say that there's a lot of baseball left to be played, and I'm still keeping the faith, as I know many Mets fans are across the city, though I will accept being addressed as Mayor Mambino for the day," Mamdani said.

The "Mambino Curse" is a reference to the "Curse of the Bambino," which supposedly hung over the Boston Red Sox for 86 years after they sold their star player Babe Ruth, "the Great Bambino," to the Yankees.

"I will keep my fingers crossed as every Mets fan does," Mamdani said, adding part of being mayor is "you take it in stride."

“I’m going to send all the best wishes to the team,” he said, crossing his fingers.

This is the longest losing streak for the Mets since they also dropped 11 in a row from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8 in 2004.
