NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is investigating after a teen was shot and killed near the Coney Island boardwalk on Sunday evening, officials said.
At approximately 5:50 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a male shot in the vicinity of West 36th Street and Surf Avenue, authorities said.
Upon arrival, officers observed an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest.
EMS transported him to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn in critical condition where he died from his injuries.
There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
