NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A 22-year-old man was shot and killed in Brooklyn early Saturday morning at a NYCHA housing complex, and police are investigating.
At nearly 3 a.m., police found Rahquill Weekes shot in the lower back at an apartment building at 2975 Avenue W, located near Batchelder Street, which is part of NYCHA’s Sheepshead Bay Houses.
Weekes, who officials found unconscious and unresponsive, was rushed by EMS to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police listed Weekes’ address as 215 Wortman Ave., which is eight miles away in East New York and a part of NYCHA’s Linden Houses.
It was not immediately clear why Weekes was at the Sheepshead Bay Houses or what preceded the shooting.
There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
