NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 26-year-old man was shot and killed at a park in the Bronx early Wednesday, as the city has surged 1,000 officers to the borough to deal with a rash of gun violence in recent weeks.
The victim, Ronell Marte, of the Bronx, was shot around 2:45 a.m. inside of Starlight Park in the Crotona Park East section.
Police officers responding to a 911 call found Marte with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital.
No arrests have been reported in the shooting.

The shooting came hours after Jontay Davis, 21, was found dead outside of St. Barnabas Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head on Tuesday morning. No arrests have been reported in that shooting.
An additional 1,000 police officers were deployed from across the city to “hotspots” in the Bronx last week following a string of shootings that left multiple people dead or wounded, including teenage victims.
City Hall confirmed this week that the officers were still deployed to the borough.
