NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two persons of interest were taken into custody after a man was killed and another wounded following a brawl outside a Brooklyn bar early Sunday morning, authorities said.
At approximately 1:46 a.m. police responded to a 911 call of an assault in front of Marco’s on Broadway, located in Bushwick. Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old Amare Simmons with a stab wound to the abdomen and a slash wound to the face, and a 28-year-old man with a slash wound to the left arm.
Both men were rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where Simmons—a resident of the 30th Street Shelter, also known as Bellevue— was pronounced dead. The 28-year-old remains in stable condition.
Police recovered a knife at the scene. It is unclear if the surviving victim is among those being held.
No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
