NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man jumped 30 feet into a reflecting pool at the 9/11 Memorial in Lower Manhattan on Monday afternoon, police said.

The 33-year-old dropped down into the north reflecting pool around 1:30 p.m. and suffered a leg injury in the fall, according to cops.

Video shows him wading through the shallow water and lying down near the edge of the inner waterfall, which drops another 20 feet into darkness.

The unidentified man was arrested by police at the scene and taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue to be treated for the leg injury.

Charges against him were pending Tuesday but could include trespassing.

The man reportedly told officers that he “did this for his father,” though it was unclear what he meant or if he has a connection to any 9/11 victims.
