NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a 45-year-old man was shoved onto the tracks in a Bronx subway station in an unprovoked attack that occurred Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at approximately 7:30 a.m. as the victim was waiting on the platform of the southbound 1 train platform of the 231st Street station in the Kingsbridge section, according to officials.

Authorities said the attacker came up behind the victim and randomly pushed him onto the tracks, the NYPD said.

The victim suffered a broken leg and was transported to North Central Bronx Hospital, police said.

Officials said the suspect fled the scene after the attack.

He appeared to be around 35-years-old and was wearing all black, authorities added.

An investigation remains ongoing.
