NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is investigating the death of a motorcyclist at a crash that occurred at a Brooklyn intersection early Friday morning, authorities said.
At approximately 12:36 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision at Coney Island and Guider avenues in Brighton Beach.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 50-year-old man was driving a 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Guider Avenue at the intersection of Coney Island Avenue when he failed to properly navigate the roadway, causing him to be ejected from the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist sustained severe trauma to his head and EMS transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island where he was pronounced dead.
The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
