NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 54-year-old man was indicted for drugging and raping a 14-year-old girl he targeted through Instagram, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

Michael Olson found the girl’s Instagram profile in December 2022 and responded to a post she made complaining about the price of clothes, according to prosecutors.

He bought the clothes for her, and proceeded to drug her and rape her in New York City hotels and on trips around the country while paying her, officials said.

The Manhattan DA’s Office estimated he paid her about $700 a week while having sex with her in hotel rooms in Manhattan and Queens.

He would allegedly portray her as his daughter when buying tickets for flights to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Miami.

On May 26, EMS responded to a report of a girl overdosing in a Manhattan hotel room.

They found the 14-year-old victim overdosing and brought her to a local hospital, where she eventually recovered.

Police found ketamine, cocaine and Xanax in the hotel room and arrested Olson.

Further investigation revealed Olson may have engaged in similar behavior with other children.

“This indictment charges that the defendant used drugs and money to engage in targeted and repeated sexual abuse of a child.” said Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. “My Office is actively investigating these allegations and the potential that the defendant’s criminal conduct reaches much farther than the charges contained in today’s indictment.”

Olson faces charges for rape, sale of a controlled substance to a child, aggravated prostitution patronizing of a minor, criminal sexual acts, facilitating a sex offense with a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.
