NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 55-year-old man was stabbed to death Tuesday morning at a former hotel near Times Square that offers supportive housing, police said.
The NYPD responded shortly before 1 a.m. to a report of an assault in progress at 255 West 43rd St., the site of the former Times Square Hotel.
According to the nonprofit Breaking Ground, the building now provides "permanent affordable housing and onsite supportive services for low-income and formerly homeless adults, persons with serious mental illness, and persons living with HIV/AIDS."
Responding officers found the victim unconscious and unresponsive with a stab wound to his torso.
EMS transported him in critical condition to Mount Sinai West, where he was later pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.
The circumstances surrounding the stabbing weren't immediately known.
A resident of the building, Kevin Young, 38, was arrested on a charge of first-degree manslaughter, police said.
