NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was found after a fire tore through a home in Queens early Thursday morning, police said.
The fire broke out just before midnight in a two-story home on 148th Avenue, at 259th Street, in Rosedale, according to police.
After the fire was extinguished by the FDNY, officers found the 56-year-old man unresponsive inside the home.
EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has been withheld pending the notification of his family.
The man's dog survived the fire, a neighbor told WABC.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the NYC Fire Marshal.
