NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 60-year-old man was struck and killed by a school bus driver near his home on Staten Island, police said Friday.

The victim, Carl Calabro, was about a block from his home around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by the school bus at Slosson Terrace and Bay Street in St. George, according to police.

Officers responding to a 911 call found him injured at the scene. He was pronounced dead at Richmond University Medical Center.

The 55-year-old man behind the wheel of the bus remained at the scene, police said.

Investigators believe he made a left turn onto Slosson Terrace from Bay Street and struck the victim on the roadway.

No arrests have been reported as the investigation continues.
