NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 65-year-old man was struck by a trailer tractor in south Brooklyn in a fatal hit-and-run on Sunday morning, according to the NYPD.
At about 9:49 a.m., Shumi Izjaguev was loading cargo into the back of a parked box truck in front of 700 Columbia St. in Red Hook when police said he lost his balance and entered the roadway.
After falling, Izjaguev was hit by a gray tractor trailer traveling northbound on Columbia Street.
EMS rushed him to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. He lived in Kensington.
The tractor trailer did not remain at the scene and there have been no arrests.
