Man, 66, stabbed unprovoked near Tompkins Square Park

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police on Monday released a photo of a suspect wanted for stabbing a man in a random attack near Tompkins Square Park earlier this month, authorities said.

Just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, the suspect approached a 66-year-old male victim in front of 150 East 7th St. in the East Village and stabbed him in the back with a knife in an unprovoked attack.

The victim sustained a cut to his back.

The suspect then fled on foot to parts unknown.

The victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospital/Bellevue and is in stable condition.

The suspect was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark-colored jacket, gray hat, and gray and white sneakers.
