Man, 69, suffers numerous injuries after stranger sucker punches him near Madison Square Park

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A 69-year-old man was violently attacked in Manhattan last month, suffering various injuries as a result, and police released photos of a suspect on Friday.

At about 8:30 a.m. on May 20, a stranger approached the 69-year-old from behind in front of 6 East 23rd St., just across from Madison Square Park, and punched him in the right side of the head.

The impact of the blow caused the man to fall, and he sustained injuries to the right ear, right elbow and had a laceration on the side of his forehead.

He was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.

The perpetrator, described by police as 5’11” and 180 pounds, fled westbound on East 23rd Street.He was last seen clad in all black with white sneakers.
