Upon arrival, officers observed Deshui Wang lying on the roadway with body trauma.

EMS transported Wang to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2008 Jeep Liberty, operated by a 53-year-old man, was traveling along 65th Street, through the intersection of 4th Avenue, when it struck Wang as he was attempting to cross 65th Street in the vicinity of the crosswalk.

Wang was struck by the front of the vehicle and thrown to the pavement, the NYPD said.

The man driving the Jeep was not injured, and was issued summons for both failure to obey a traffic control device and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

The investigation remains ongoing.
