NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Authorities on Saturday released the preliminary findings in an investigation into a crash that sent a 70-year-old man and 60-year-old woman careening over the side of a bridge into a Long Island Rail Road trainyard 40 feet below Friday.

The man, identified as Francois Cadely, was driving a 2021 Audi Q5 around 12:41 p.m. on Vanderbilt Avenue near Pacific Street when he started accelerating out of control, flipping over a concrete barrier on the side of the bridge, according to officials.

EMS rushed both of the victims to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The woman, who was a passenger in the car, remains at the same hospital in critical condition.

The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad will continue to investigate the crash.
