NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 70-year-old man was slugged in the face at random and badly injured as he exited a subway train in Harlem this week, police said Friday.

An image from the NYPD shows the man suspected of sucker punching the septuagenarian around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday inside the 145th Street station at Saint Nicholas Avenue.

The victim was trying to get off a C train when a male wearing a mask and a Gap hoodie hit him for no reason, police said.

The blow left the straphanger with a "severe laceration" to his face and lip, according to cops.

EMS transported him to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition.

His attacker fled on foot immediately after the assault and was last seen heading up to the street.

Anyone with information is a sked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
