Man, 72, attacked with hammer in Chelsea, suspect at-large

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a man who attacked a 72-year-old man with a hammer in Chelsea Wednesday.

The victim was walking on West 23rd Street near Eighth Avenue in Chelsea around 3:28 p.m., when the attacker shoved him, according to officials.

The attacker bashed the man’s leg with a hammer before fleeing eastbound on 23rd Street, authorities said.

Emergency responders treated the victim at the scene.
