NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — An 86-year-old man was fatally struck by the driver of a city Department of Transportation truck in Brooklyn on Wednesday, authorities said.
According to police, at about 3:30 p.m., the victim was crossing the street at 92nd Street and Dahlgreen Place in Bay Ridge when he was hit by the 31-year-old DOT truck driver.
The man was thrown to the pavement and suffered severe head trauma.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The truck driver remained on the scene and did not immediately face charges.
An investigation is ongoing.
