NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 35-year-old man was arraigned on Staten Island Thursday after he admitted to setting a woman's car on fire after threatening her in August, authorities said.
Kern Isaac was arraigned on charges including third-degree arson, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree grand larceny and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
On Aug. 26, police said Isaac was near the intersection of Tompkins and Chestnut avenues in Rosebank when he threatened the woman with a wine bottle in front of her two children, ages 8 and 6, and demanded money.
He allegedly took the victim's car without her permission.
Court documents allege that Isaac admitted to lighting a cookie wrapper on fire and tossing it inside the car before heading for a nearby train station.
The flames engulfed the vehicle, causing the windows of a nearby home to shatter.
Isaac was arrested two days after the incited and an FDNY investigation resulted in criminal charges.
