NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police arrested a man on Thursday accused of breaking into a Brooklyn business, robbing and raping a 49-year-old woman, officials said.
Mohammed Izzeddin, 22, of Bay Ridge, was charged with rape, robbery, unlawful imprisonment and related assault charges after he was arrested at 1 p.m. on Thursday in Borough Park.
According to police, at around 6 p.m. on Saturday, two suspects forced their way into a business near 9th Avenue and 59th Street.
In an interview with Pix11, the survivor explained that the men forced their way into the outer door of the business, and while she tried to resist, she could not.
She was inside with two female coworkers, and when the man entered, he hit her in the face and choked her.
Once inside, the man and his accomplice stole all the cash the women had on hand, totaling about $300.
The accomplice, at knifepoint, told the other two women inside the business to remain silent while the assailant raped the survivor.
"I had not rested for 24 hours – not at all, on any day since because I could not calm down, and now I am slowly adjusting. I think I may see a psychiatrist next," the woman told Pix11.
The NYPD released photos of both suspects after the attack to aid their investigation, and are still searching for the accomplice. He is described as being in his 30s, with a medium complexion, slim build, black hair and black facial hair.
Izzeddin claimed that he did not rape the victim, yelling "It's a prostitution spot!," as he was led out of the NYPD's 66th Precinct stationhouse, the New York Daily News reported on Thursday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
