NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Wednesday arrested a man in connection with a robbery attack against a father and son that occurred after a collision in Queens over the weekend.
Officials arrested 27-year-old Giovani Padin of Queens in the May 8 attack that happened at about 7 p.m. in front of a parking lot located at 32-53 70 Street near Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights, officials said.
Police on Tuesday released surveillance footage that captured the violent attack.
According to the NYPD, a 23-year-old man and his 55-year-old father were driving in a white Nissan Sentra were exiting the lot when they collided with the suspect who was driving a grey Honda Accord.
The victims, Padin, and his female passenger all exited their vehicles, officials said.
The suspect then demanded payment for the damage to his vehicle, according to authorities.
The dispute escalated when Padin began punching both victims in their faces, police said.
Officials said the suspect took the 23-year-old man's cellphone and the 55-year-old man's cellphone and wallet, which contained ID and bank cards.
The victims refused medical attention.
The suspect and his female passenger then fled in the grey Honda Accord, the NYPD said.
Padin faces charges including robbery, attempted grand larceny, assault and leaving the scene of an accident
