Man attacks subway rider with metal pipe

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An unidentified suspect hit a man with a metal pipe on a northbound J train as it approached the Delancey Street - Essex Street station in Manhattan on Wednesday, according to police.

The two passengers got into an argument around 5:20 p.m. The attacker, who police believe to be in his late 20s hit the 20-year-old victim with the pipe and ran off the train once it stopped, authorities say.

Emergency responders took the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Police are still searching for the attacker.
