NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man attacked a 19-year-old woman on a train in Manhattan, then bit a police officer as he was being arrested, the NYPD said Friday.
A good Samaritan restrained the 28-year-old man around 12:40 p.m. on Friday after he attacked the woman on a southbound A train at Columbus Circle, police said.
When police officers arrived to arrest the man, the man bit one of the officers in the right arm, breaking his skin, the NYPD said.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai West for a psychiatric evaluation, police said.
Both the woman — whose face was bruised — and the injured police officer were taken to nearby hospitals in stable condition, the NYPD said.
Police didn't immediately release the man's name. An investigation is ongoing.
