NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A stick-wielding man used it to bash a 29-year-old woman in the head at a lower Manhattan subway station last week, and police are searching for the assailant.
The victim was inside the Fulton Street subway station in the Financial District at about 8 p.m. on Thursday when the suspect bumped into her on the escalator.
Police said that an argument ensued, and it escalated to physical violence when the suspect began striking the woman over the head with a stick.
The attacker fled the scene to parts unknown, and medics transported the victim to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital in stable condition.
Officials released surveillance video Saturday night of the suspect jumping the turnstile while carrying the stick. He was wearing a dark-colored winter jacket, pants and brown boots.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
