NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A subway rider was beaten and robbed of his yarmulke in an anti-Jewish hate crime aboard a train in Brooklyn this week.

The victim was riding an N train at the Atlantic Avenue–Barclays Center station in Prospect Heights around 10:45 a.m. Monday when he was attacked, police said.

A man walked up and pummeled his face while making anti-Jewish statements, according to police.

He then stole his yarmulke off his head and fled on a Manhattan-bound N train.

EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to SUNY Downstate Medical Center in stable condition.

The assault and robbery is being investigated as a hate crime, the NYPD said.
