NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for two suspects accused of beating a man and attempting to stab him with a wooden stick at a Washington Heights subway station earlier this week, authorities said.

At about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, a 38-year-old man was standing on the mezzanine of the 168th Street station when two men approached him, officials said.

The suspects proceeded to strike the victim with a wooden stick throughout his body. When the stick broke, the suspects unsuccessfully attempted to stab the victim with the pointed end of the stick.

The suspects then fled and exited the station on foot, traveling to parts unknown.

The victim sustained bruising to the body and cuts to the head.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
