Angel DeJesus, 44, has been charged with murder and criminally negligent homicide, according to authorities.

The NYPD said DeJesus strangled 35-year-old Belkins Lopez on Sept. 20 in her bedroom at a residence the two shared on East 158th Street in the Melrose neighborhood, before placing rubber bands around her neck.

Lopez’s 14-year-old daughter discovered her unresponsive and called 911, according to the New York Daily News.

EMS responded to the home and Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.

DeJesus was reportedly Lopez’s on-again-off-again boyfriend and was identified as a person of interest in her death in September.
