Man charged with murder of woman found in trash bags on Kips Bay street

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police arrested a 55-year-old man on Monday in the death of a woman found in trash bags outside an apartment on the East Side of Manhattan last week, and officially charged him in her murder on Wednesday.

Chad Irish, a Bronx resident, was charged with concealment of a human corpse, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing upon his arrest Monday. On Wednesday, police announced an additional charge of second-degree murder.

He was also charged on an unrelated incident.

The victim was identified by police as 31-year-old Yazmeen Williams, and her body was found when officers responded to a report of a suspicious package in front of 207 East 27th St. in Kips Bay just before 5 p.m. on Friday, July 5.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered an unconscious and unresponsive Williams inside a plastic bag.

EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Williams suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and her death was ruled a homicide on Sunday, July 7.
