NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was arrested Friday for allegedly murdering a woman who was found beaten in front of her Queens home on Thursday evening.

Francisco Sevilla, 40, of Queens, was charged with first-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police believe he killed Juliet Kashidas-Singh, 64, who was found lying dead outside her home at 104th Street and 103rd Avenue in Ozone Park.

Kashidas-Singh was discovered unconscious and unresponsive around 5:20 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical examiner was working to determine her exact cause of death.

According to police, Kashidas-Singh had been beaten and may have been strangled because she had various traumatic injuries to her body.

She and Sevilla knew each other, police said, though their exact relationship wasn’t immediately known.

A neighbor remembered her as a kind woman who owned a landscaping business. "I'm very shocked," he said. "This kind of thing never happens around here."
