NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was arrested after he allegedly shined a laser at NYPD and news helicopters as they were flying over the George Floyd remembrance demonstrations in Manhattan on Tuesday, police said.
An NYPD helicopter and a CBS News helicopter were flying over rallies in Manhattan around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday when someone began shining a laser at them, the NYPD said Wednesday.
Investigators tracked the source of the laser to a Red Hook Houses building on Columbia Street in Brooklyn, police said.
James Dowling, 42, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, directing a laser at an aircraft and criminal trespass soon after, the NYPD said.
His attorney information wasn’t immediately available Wednesday.
