NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A thief cut open a sleeping subway rider's pocket to stealthily steal the victim's wallet during an early hour train trip, police said.
The robbery occurred Sunday, Oct. 10 on an R train as it headed toward the 53rd St. station in Midtown around 3:50 a.m, police said.
The thief took a 34-year-old man's wallet and his backpack as he dozed off on the train and then went on to use the victim's credit cards to make multiple purchases, according to cops.
No injuries were reported.
The NYPD released surveillance footage of an individual wanted in connection to the robbery, showing a man wearing light pants, a camouflage sweatshirt and a black hat.
