NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a man who they say dragged a woman into a wooded area of the Bronx and choked her last week before a passerby heard her screams and scared off her attacker.
The NYPD released a sketch of a suspect Friday as they continued to search for the man in last Wednesday's attack.
The 31-year-old woman was walking on a path at Pelham Bay Park around 3:30 p.m. when a man ran up to her from behind near City Island Road and Shore Road, police said.
The man covered the woman's nose and mouth and dragged her into a wooded area, where he pinned her face-down, mounted her and began twisting her neck, according to police.
The woman was able to scream and a man on a bicycle nearby heard her, police said. The passerby came down from the path to help her and the attacker ran off.
The woman suffered scrapes and bruises to her arms, legs and back. She was treated at the scene by EMS.
