NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A callous crook dragged a 72-year-old woman down an Upper East Side street by her purse as he tried to rob her last week, police said Wednesday.
Photos released by the NYPD show the suspect around the time of the attack early last Thursday morning.
The victim was walking in the area of E. 83rd Street and Second Avenue at 3:30 a.m. when the man grabbed her purse and threw her to the ground, police said.
He continued to pull on the purse, dragging her along the ground as she held onto the bag, according to cops.
The thief ultimately got spooked by a person walking nearby. He fled empty-handed up Third Avenue, police said.
The victim suffered bruising and swelling to her body. She was treated at the scene by EMS.
