NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man entered a store in Brooklyn last month, threatened to stab a worker and poured lighter fluid over the ground in what police are investigating as attempted arson. Surveillance video of a suspect was released on Friday to help in the investigation.
The suspect entered a store near the intersection of Linden Boulevard and Holly Street in East New York at about 4:45 p.m. on May 28 and “became irate,” police said.
A 46-year-old woman was working inside the store when the man brandished a knife and stated “I will stab you.”
He then poured lighter fluid on the floor and attempted to light it, but was unsuccessful.
Authorities said that he fled the store in an unknown direction, and no one was injured in the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
