NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man escaped from police custody at criminal court in Downtown Brooklyn on Tuesday afternoon, police said as they searched for him.
The suspect was being arraigned at Brooklyn Criminal Court on domestic violence charges when he fled around 1:20 p.m., the NYPD said.
According to police, he was slipped out of a “daisy chain”—a chain with multiple pairs of handcuffs—and fled the court at 120 Schermerhorn St.
He was last seen at Pacific and Bond streets, police said.
The man was previously arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, according to cops.
Citizen App video showed a police helicopter over the area. though it wasn't immediately clear if it was connected to the search for him.
