NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 27-year-old was fatally shot in the head on the Upper West Side near the NYPD’s 24th precinct building, according to police.

The shooting happened around 12:15 p.m. on 102nd Street near Amsterdam Avenue by the Frederick Douglass Playground, police said.
The precinct building is on the other side of the playground.
The suspect fled and police have not made an arrest, according to authorities.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
