NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was struck and injured by a car as he ran from gunfire and into oncoming traffic in East Harlem on Tuesday morning, police said.

The man was fleeing gunshots on East 116th Street around 10:40 a.m. when he ran from Pleasant Avenue towards First Avenue, according to cops.

As he bolted into oncoming traffic, the driver of a white car struck him and knocked him to the roadway, police said.

The driver remained at the scene to help him and call 911, according to police.

EMS transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where his condition was unknown.

Details about the shooting weren't immediately clear. No arrests have been reported.
